"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Maya Angelou Ooooof! It's been an emotional couple of weeks. And I find myself contemplating this quote and these tough questions as I navigate my feelings of hurt and betrayal. How are we showing up when we are let down? How can we trust that we are loved and lovable even when we are excluded? There has been an exorbitant amount of relationship turbulence for the past five years, with many people falling away who no longer fit into this life of mine. And why they no longer fit is because how I feel about myself has changed; my self-worth is rock solid, my sovereignty intact, and therefore, what I am willing to tolerate has greatly diminished. Here are the highlights for anyone who missed it. I've been divorced. Two of my best friends died 8 months apart with back-to-back memorial services. My father died. I moved in with my mom. My daughter moved to California. Since December 2025... Family dynamics continue shifting, even six years post-divorce, creating a lot of upset for me and those I love the very most. A man I dated casually for almost two years was just a shitty communicator and terrible friend between trysts, so I was getting weary...and decided "f*ck this!" His last exchange with me was a Merry Christmas text when he mentioned he was flying to India and hoped to come back a better man...welp? I'm guessing not. These painful experiences are all lessons in letting go. These are opportunities to lean into surrender, accepting what is, and figuring out what's next. And then there are the F E E L I N G S. So I will leave you with this... Honor your losses with tears. Answer your rage and scream into the night. Feel your disappointment by sharing it with someone who loves you. Honor yourself and the losses of your life, of the world horrors unfolding before our eyes. Cry for Dolly and the general loss of kindness and decency in our country. Give yourself the gift of expression so you can be lighter in the world that's so heavy... And if that doesn't work, reach out to me, and we will find another way. xo, Gabrielle P.S. Morning Sunrise, Manasquan, NJ Hey ya'll, How's it going?? Going to stick with this new format to see how it sticks - hope you dig it! MusingsI've been giving a lot of thought to advice I often give clients, friends, my kids, and myself. The advice is "meet yourself where you are!" So what does that mean? Think of it this way. We are naturally goal- and acquisition-oriented. Trying to achieve the next thing, buy the next thing, save for the next thing - then life shakes up our lives with...
Turtle Crossing | Shark River State Park, NJ WHAT IF LIFE WAS JUST A PRACTICE? When I was still offering one-on-one coaching to folks, I would invite them to consider the quote above during the first or second session. So I ask you, what if life was just a practice? Would we take it all so seriously? ------REALITY CHECK I get it - life can be serious, and the world in 2026 can be a very heavy place if you have a soul. The responsibilities of adulthood are not for the weak of heart. But stick...
