Happy "More Rain" Monday from Central NJ! I write you this morning with deep feelings of rage and heartbreak about the state of the world, and specifically over the court ruling in the Cornell SA case. As a survivor, I am utterly digusted and exhausted from the bullshit and lack of accountability for every violent criminal that walks free and most of all, the person holding the highest office in America. The insults and reminders are everywhere and all the time. I was on a five mile hike with my son on Friday afternoon and as we hiked deep in the woods we passed other men along the trail — on bikes, with their dog and another with a walking stick. As we greeted the last man, I said, "Wow, it's no wonder we never see women hiking solo, this is a good reminder that I really shouldn't go hiking alone, I can't believe this is still our reality." What followed was another conversation about how sad this truth is for women - we are not safe and must remain hyper-vigilant and how crucial it is for the good men to speak out and speak out loudly. As the author of a book titled JOYHeals, What If It Could be Easy? I will reiterate that the point of joy is not about avoiding heartache, the healing, or the hard truths. It's about learning how to hold both ends of the spectrum at once. This is what I have been referring to for years as "living in the messy middle." That said, I am sending all of my love and light and optimism for better days to each of you. I hope you find your own inspiration to create something beautiful for yourself and this world which so desperately needs more of our collective beautiful self-expressions. So notice the painting above — it's something I created this weekend while listening to great music and burning a gorgeous incense rope from my fave local coffee shop and market Seawatch in Manasquan. My heart feels like a jubilant child effervescent, overflowing like a shaken bottle of seltzer. My heart feels like a dark, cold, empty cave where love once illuminated every damp, cobwebbed corner. My heart feels open. My heart feels closed. My heart feels hot. My heart feels cold. My heart feels good. My heart feels bad. My heart feels. My heart feels. My heart feels. And as the cycle of its beat reminds me of its infinite nature…until it stops. My heart dies—yet I never will. The last thing I will say about creativity is this — it's a great way to stay present and after all, isn't that the gift? xo, Gabrielle P.S. Creativity is in fact one of the 15 joy expressions I recommend exploring in my book. Sure would appreciate if you'd buy a copy and send me your thoughts...LOVE hearing from readers. It helps me formulate how to better support this community!

The Joy of Hosting Female Leaders Happy Saturday, I've been giving a lot of thought to the conversations I've been having with colleagues about work life these days and the strain of leadership, managing profitability and maintaining a healthy team.Professional spaces and membership organizations like LinkedIn, Chief, vYve, and others talk a lot about leadership skills. Communication. Strategy. Accountability. Being Decisive. Emotional intelligence. Yet we rarely talk about JOY. Not happiness...
Wild skies over Manasquan "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Maya Angelou Ooooof! It's been an emotional couple of weeks. And I find myself contemplating this quote and these tough questions as I navigate my feelings of hurt and betrayal. How are we showing up when we are let down? How are we healing when our heart breaks? How can we trust that we are loved and lovable even when we are excluded? How will we learn to honor the process? How will we get better at...
Morning Sunrise, Manasquan, NJ Hey ya'll, How's it going?? Going to stick with this new format to see how it sticks - hope you dig it! MusingsI've been giving a lot of thought to advice I often give clients, friends, my kids, and myself. The advice is "meet yourself where you are!" So what does that mean? Think of it this way. We are naturally goal- and acquisition-oriented. Trying to achieve the next thing, buy the next thing, save for the next thing - then life shakes up our lives with...
