Happy Saturday! 🌜 When we can show up vulnerably and in our connected humanity, everything is possible. 💖 As I often do, I decided to share this on Threads and Instagram, and the comments started flowing in, which got me thinking. If this resonates so deeply, why do we find it so necessary to hide the messier truths of our lives? 🌍 Through coaching hundreds of clients and leading both large and small teams, I’ve realized that it’s often in the messiest parts of life that we are most the same. As we approach the close of 2024, perhaps it’s time to reflect on how we want to show up in 2025. How will we shape our relationships? How will we spend our time—with ourselves, our loved ones, our work? How do we earn and spend our money? Maybe it’s time to slow down and process our lives in real time. So often, when life starts life-ing—a health crisis, a breakup, parenting challenges, navigating neurodiversity, death, birth—we hide it away. When someone asks, “How are you?” we respond with, “Fine, how are you?” even if our heart is breaking. What if we answered truthfully? Imagine saying: “I just got crushing news. I’m trying to keep it together, but my mind is racing.” Here’s what I think might happen: the person across from you would likely lean in with kindness—a hug, soothing words, a common story, a connection. 🤗 Ways to Try Vulnerability Without Freaking Out the Neighbors 😅 Start small. Begin with those closest to you. When asked how you are, pause, think, and answer truthfully. Ask for what you need. If you crave eye contact and deep conversations, seek out friends who can provide that space. Find your people. Build a community that sees all of you—a space where you can thrive and connect with others doing the same. Get curious. Where in your life are you falling short of being authentic? I believe one reason anxiety runs so high in our society is that we’ve stopped connecting in deeply meaningful ways. I must be honest, I'm not interested in meaningless chit-chat. As my friend Tracy recently said "I like to go deep!" Remember a time before technology? We gathered around tables, fires, living rooms, beaches, forests—and we talked. We shared stories, saw one another, and were truly seen. That is what I am committed to and here are a few other things I'm excited about for the coming year. a view into my office | Garofalo LaRocca Lineage my parents It's June!!! Yesterday I was sitting outside on my back porch taking a break from preparing for a dinner party I hosted last evening and I clicked "new music mix" on Apple Music and the first song that came on was something new by Sheryl Crow and I was immediately drawn in. Soon I was sobbing. I never heard the song before yet I knew it was meant for me to hear, in that very moment because I knew it was meant to be shared with all of...

I recently traveled to Iceland with my daughter to celebrate her 18th birthday and upcoming high school graduation. Iceland is truly magical—vast landscapes, the beautiful absence of advertising and screens, incredible culinary moments, and nature like you've never experienced. We saw the Northern Lights...
