โ Happy Saturday! ๐ When we can show up vulnerably and in our connected humanity, everything is possible. ๐ โ โ As I often do, I decided to share this on Threads and Instagram, and the comments started flowing in, which got me thinking. If this resonates so deeply, why do we find it so necessary to hide the messier truths of our lives? ๐ Through coaching hundreds of clients and leading both large and small teams, Iโve realized that itโs often in the messiest parts of life that we are most the same. As we approach the close of 2024, perhaps itโs time to reflect on how we want to show up in 2025. How will we shape our relationships? How will we spend our timeโwith ourselves, our loved ones, our work? How do we earn and spend our money? Maybe itโs time to slow down and process our lives in real time. So often, when life starts life-ingโa health crisis, a breakup, parenting challenges, navigating neurodiversity, death, birthโwe hide it away. When someone asks, โHow are you?โ we respond with, โFine, how are you?โ even if our heart is breaking. What if we answered truthfully? Imagine saying: โI just got crushing news. Iโm trying to keep it together, but my mind is racing.โ Hereโs what I think might happen: the person across from you would likely lean in with kindnessโa hug, soothing words, a common story, a connection. ๐ค Ways to Try Vulnerability Without Freaking Out the Neighbors ๐โ Start small. Begin with those closest to you. When asked how you are, pause, think, and answer truthfully. Ask for what you need. If you crave eye contact and deep conversations, seek out friends who can provide that space. โ Find your people. Build a community that sees all of youโa space where you can thrive and connect with others doing the same. โ Get curious. Where in your life are you falling short of being authentic? โ I believe one reason anxiety runs so high in our society is that weโve stopped connecting in deeply meaningful ways. โ I must be honest, I'm not interested in meaningless chit-chat. As my friend Tracy recently said "I like to go deep!" โ Remember a time before technology? We gathered around tables, fires, living rooms, beaches, forestsโand we talked. We shared stories, saw one another, and were truly seen. That is what I am committed to and here are a few other things I'm excited about for the coming year. My 2025 Vision ๐Word of the Year. ๐โ Launching my Beta Group Coaching Program ๐โ Romance. ๐โ Serving more Clients. ๐ Releasing my First Book. ๐ More time with loved ones. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆโ Travel. ๐บ โ What About You? ๐งWhat will you take on in 2025? How will you move closer to your truth and your most authentic self? โ P.P.S. Ready to make joy your compass? Join my beta group for the Chasing Joy Incubator & Community, launching in 2025. Hey all, Not sure about all of you, but 2026 is off to a thrilling start as I share the news that I am officially a published author. My first book, JOYHeals, What if it Could be Easy? poured out of me last March and when it did I realized the book became the guide I needed to better help people navigate the workshops I have been leading for the past several years. I had been teaching this work in a more "meta" style at local public workshops, women's leadership retreats across the country,...
Happy December! Somehow, this time of year finds many of us somewhere between feeling the rush of a new year and all we dream for ourselves, amidst the utter exhaustion of surviving 2025 (only a few more days to go!). It feels like a season of doing and resting. Planning and reflecting. Socializing and hibernating. Does that resonate with any of you? I know it does for many of my clients, colleagues, and now, I'd love to hear from you too! How does closing out 2025 feel? Energizing! I am...
October came in hot, and so did 58!! If you have spent any amount of time with me, you know I love to celebrate my birthday (October 11th!) and this year was no different. Despite having just moved into a new place on October 1st, I decided to host a little soiree for myselfโcomplete with a raucous group of friends, fire pit, laughs, great food, twerking, and tequila shots (yes, even though I don't drink much anymore, I indulged too!). I think everyone ought to go all out on their birthday....
